SUMMERSIDE, PE – The Atlantic Sires Stakes trotters shared the spotlight Tuesday evening as Little Louis won his seventh straight at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The streaking Little Louis ($2.20) won his $13,380 Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old trotting tilt as he went to front and eased through a mile in 2:03.3 for a seven-length victory over Hoponarocket (Driven by Mike McGuigan) and Dusty Lane Margo (Jason Hughes). Corey MacPherson drove the winning son of EL Rocket for trainer Kuri White and owners East Coast Captains of Cornwall.
The other $13,380 rookie trot division went to Roseys El Girl ($4.10) who prevailed in 2:03.2 for driver Ken Murphy and owner-trainer Bill Lanigan of Montague. Bonmati (MacPherson) held second with Emberlees Rocket (Marc Campbell) third.
The three-year-old trotters also contested a pair of $13,000 divisions with the first bout becoming a wide-open affair with the scratch of Atlantic Sires Stakes points leader Oceanview Nikki. Marcus Down Ridge ($11.20) made the most of the opportunity, trotting home in 2:02.4 to nab gold ahead of Dusty Lane Kahlua (Adam Merner) and Majian Mystery (Jim Ripley). Clare MacDonald trains and drives the winning son of Mile Hill Willie for owner Wade Silliker.
The other $13,000 sophomore division was another MacDonald family victory as Ken MacDonald was in the race bike for trainer Clare behind the red-hot West River Jet ($2.10), who controlled every step in 1:58.4 to keep a flawless top-three résumé intact this season. Supreme Rockette (McGuigan) chased throughout for the deuce with Dusty Lane Gus (Merner) third.
Corey MacPherson authored a five-win masterpiece on the evening as he won four overnights dashes to go with his stakes triumph. The Cornwall driver hit the wire first with Princess Halo ($13.10) in 1:57.2 from the Garth Cole barn, Sharky ($4.90) in 1:57 for trainer Taylor Doyle, Chromed Up ($6.90) for Chris MacKay in a swift 1:56.4, and in race 13 when Howmac Exclusive ($15.90) knifed through late in 1:56.2 for trainer Les Waite.
Driver Paul Langille was a three-time winner on the night scoring with Starship Beauty ($5.00) in 1:58 for trainer Kyle Williams, Brookdale Johnny ($4.30) in the night’s $4,300 featured pace for Phil Sizer in 1:55.4 and the race 15 finale with Brokeandoutofgas ($3.50) in 1:55.4 for trainer Tammy Collings.
