SUMMERSIDE, PE – Windemere Skye continued to brush off her rivals as the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacers was front and centre Sunday at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Drawing post 8 in her $20,020 A-division for two-year-old pacing fillies, Windemere Skye ($2.40) moved smartly to the lead past the quarter and widened with every stride to a 1:56.3 score for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Earl Watts, stopping the clock with a 28.2 closer to keep her season spotless at 8-for-8. Owned by Windemere Farms of Springvale and Matt Burke of Stratford, the daughter of Somewhere Fancy was much the best over Bakers Dozen (Driven by Paul Langille) and Elm Grove Uncannie (Ken Murphy).
The companion $20,020 filly split in Race 13 went to Beach Jewels ($4.60), who cut it all out as part of a four-bagger for driver Gilles Barrieau, who was in the bike for trainer Kevin MacLean in 1:58.2. The Arthur Blue Chip filly, owned by Reg MacPherson of Stratford, turned back Going For Blood (Kenny Arsenault) and Exhilarating (Darryl MacLean).
The $6,000 B-division tilts for fillies went to Isle Mach Da Money ($2.20) in Race 2 for trainer-driver Barrieau, as well as Howmac Fancy ($5.10) in Race 6 delivering in 1:59.4 for driver Paul Langille and trainer Kyle Williams.
The $17,740 two-year-old colts A-divisions were equally sharp.
Zero Two Sixty ($2.50) prevailed in Race 7 for his third straight, with a crisp 1:57.1 answer for Barrieau and trainer Sifroi Melanson, carrying the Ultimate Stable’s colours to victory over Sporty Anthony (Murphy) and Tiziano (Clare MacDonald).
Earlier in Race 4 A-division action, Woodmere Kobe ($8.20) gamely surged late to nail Fire And Blood (Mike Downey) on the line in 2:00 for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault and owners Peter Smith and Gerald Morrissey, with Darbies Fancy (Adam Merner) completing the triactor.
In B-division colt action, St Patricks Morn ($4.70) was all class in 1:59.4 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Alan MacDonald in Race 5, Streakantonio ($2.20) controlled and closed the deal in 1:58 for Barrieau and trainer Ron Matheson in Race 8, and Real Fancy Pants ($10.20) fronted them all in 2:02.2 for Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester in Race 11.
Away from the stakes, Hunger Pangs ($7.80) set the table in the Keith Campbell Memorial in race 1 with Corey MacPherson blasting the veteran to a 1:57.1 score for trainer Blaine McKenna.
