Gilles Barrieau started his driving career in 1981 in New Brunswick. Barrieau is a multiple winner of the O’Brien Award for Horsemanship and has topped the 100-win mark in 31 different seasons. Barrieau recorded win number 5,000 of his career at Red Shores Charlottetown in 2022.
Gilles has won the Gold Cup & Saucer with Comedy Hour in 1997, Canaco Simon in 2000, London Mews N in 2002, and Shadow Place in 2017. Barrieau has also won the Governor’s Plate a record six times, most recently with Twin B Tuffenuff in 2024.
Gilles set a PEI record for most wins on a single program recording 9 wins at Red Shores Charlottetown on September 6th, 2025.
