CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – A deep Saturday afternoon program is on tap at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, with the Preferred 1 Pace leading the charge and three divisions of the Joe & Steven MacRae Memorial Fall Series building the foundation of an action-packed card.
Post time is 12:30 P.M. for the 16-dash offering.
The Preferred 1 Pace in Race 15 brings together a familiar, hard-knocking cast with a $5,500 purse.
House Edge Hanover has turned into a late flying force this fall, and with Gilles Barrieau and post 1 he’ll once again command early respect from the Ron Matheson barn for owner Everette Hanson of Maugerville, N.B.
Rose Run X Con draws just to his right in post 2 and brings momentum with wins his last two starts from the Oakes Stable of Warren Grove with Adam Merner listed to drive this week.
Bee Two Bee has been a picture of reliability all season and now gets post 3 with Jason Hughes in the race bike for trainer Ashley Gamester as the morning line favourite.
Brookdale Johnny (Corey MacPherson) was a winner his last two starts for trainer Phil Sizer while Phil My Beer (Marc Campbell) and Malignity (Paul Langille) round out a Preferred that should be tightly contested from wire to wire.
The Backstretch Beat leans toward Bee Two Bee in the marquee tilt.
“After a subpar performance two starts back, Bee Two Bee bounced back with a big win last week. He has an inside post again today, so Hughes could be pointing him to the front again. He’s the class of this field, so I’m betting they go back-to-back.”
The Joe & Steven MacRae Memorial Fall Series appears in Races 2, 6 and 9.
Century Invictus (Norris Rogers), Buddysnvirgins (Barrieau) and Windsong Quincy (Marc Campbell) form the core of the opening division for $3,000 in race 2.
The other two splits carry $3,500 purses with race 6 bringing Five Star Dragon (Merner) favoured from post 6 against six rivals including Doc Darryl (Colin Sheppard) and Rosiesmightymoe (Barrieau).
The other $3,500 division in Race 9 has Heres To Art (Ken Murphy) the top selection against Phil Dorleans (Merner) and Spack Jarrow (Jason Hughes).
Race 7 features a PEISHOA event with Chromed Up (MacPherson) the favourite off the rail for trainer Chris MacKay.
