SUMMERSIDE, PE – The 2025 racing season at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway came to a close with Brookdale Johnny snagging the feature on the Remembrance Day program Tuesday evening.
Brookdale Johnny ($3.50) did the heavy lifting in the Race 11 $5,100 feature, clearing past the three-quarters and never looking back to stop the clock in 1:56 for owners Doug Polley Sr. & Jr., trainer Phil Sizer, and driver Paul Langille. Doc Awesome (Corey MacPherson) sat close and finished second with pacesetter Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy) third. It was one of two victories on the program for Langille, who also engineered a sharp 1:56.2 score with Brokeandoutofgas ($3.50) in the Windemere Farms Pace in Race 8 for the Tammy Collings trained mare’s third straight win.
A Langille double was not enough to close the gap in the driver’s race however as Corey MacPherson strengthened his late-season push with a driving hat trick. He clicked with Louie The Great ($2.70) in 1:59.3 in the Race 5 PCHC Sales & Promotions Committee Pace for trainer Les Waite, Princess Halo ($3.50) in the race 6 PEI Harness Racing Industry Association Pace in 2:01.3 for Garth Cole and clicking with Going Yard ($17.20) for the third straight for the George Rennison trainee, this time in 1:59.3.
MacPherson finished the season with 58 driving wins, with Langille second at 56 victories and David Dowling third at 55 winners. Trainer Earl Watts won the conditioning title with 24 wins, one ahead of Sizer with 23 winners in 2025.
Jaycob Sweet posted a driving double for the Jeff Lilley barn, winning with Bettim Alive ($2.90) in 1:58 in the Universum Pace and the race 12 finale with Marc It Up ($25.40) in 1:59.1.
Longshots lit up the tote board throughout the card.
Twin Turbo Diesel ($28.00) weaved through traffic to take the Remembrance Day Pace in Race 1 in 2:01.2 for trainer Joe Baxter driver Murphy.
The fireworks really started in Race 2 when Elm Grove Tuxx ($79.20) out-kicked them late for driver-trainer Dana Sweet in the Prince County Horsemen’s Club Pace in 2:03.3.
Melody Maker ($40.00) was another high priced winner in race 10 for driver Ryan Desroche and trainer Greg MacInnis in 1:57.3.
Other winners on the card included Run For The Money ($10.30) in the Red Shores Pace in 1:59.2 for trainer-driver Brady Sweet and KD Overdrive ($2.50) in the Happy Retirement Hemingway Pace with a 2:00.2 clocking in race 4 for trainer-driver Kyle Mason.
