CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The three-year-old filly sensation Badgirl Bridgette took another bask in stardom Thursday evening, knocking off older mares in the Race 11 feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Leaving from post 3 in the $4,450 fillies and mares feature, Badgirl Bridgette ($4.70) got away fourth as Get Answers (Driven by Marc Campbell) seized early control through a 28.1 opening quarter. The order stayed unchanged to the 58.2 half then Badgirl Bridgette angled out to follow cover going to the three-quarters of 1:29.2. The daughter of Stonebridge Terror powered up the lane to get up by a length in 1:58 over a track rated three-seconds off. Shake N Blake (Ken Murphy) rallied from the backfield to grab second money with Get Answers hanging tough for third.
The victory was her 12th win on the season for Badgirl Bridgette and owner-trainer Bill Lanigan of Montague, who continues his remarkable campaign with the brilliant filly.
The Jennifer Doyle barn wasted little time getting on the board on the 12-dash program as Elm Grove Mistress ($3.00) delivered as the heavy favourite in Race 1 in 1:57.4 then Moon Bound ($4.00) won race 2 in 2:00. Both Doyle trainees were driven by Ken Murphy.
Driver Corey MacPherson tripled up on the program winning with Th Spikey Mikey ($2.30) in 2:01.4 and Rosetown Mary ($2.90) in 1:59.1, both from his own barn, along with the Phil Kelly trained Sagali ($13.80) in 2:00.2.
The $3,900 trot in Race 9 saw Whole Nother ($3.60) and trainer-driver Colin Sheppard team up for a 2:02 score over Labero (Marc Campbell) and Hallofaride (Ryan Desroche).
Racing continues at the capital oval Saturday at 12:30 P.M. Get more at Redshores.ca.
