CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – A career milestone and one more to come highlighted Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as Marc Campbell reached a legendary driving plateau and teenage trainer Landon Campbell closed in on his first century mark.
The night’s feature in Race 12 went to Get Answers ($3.80), who controlled the $4,450 pacing mares event from the outset to score in 1:55. The Lazarus N five-year-old gave 17-year-old trainer Landon Campbell his 99th career training victory, as she held off late challengers to win for owners Brady Doyle of Stratford and Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. Tobins Brownie (Driven by Adam Merner) was placed second while Sugar Bowl (Brady Sweet) was elevated to third.
Earlier on the program in Race 5, Woodmere Flojo ($5.00) blazed to a 1:56.4 front-end victory to hand Marc Campbell his 3,500th career driving win. The milestone moment came for trainer Jamie Smith and owners Gowiththeflo Racing of Charlottetown. Campbell would add to that tally before the night was through, ending with a four-win performance.
Campbell also guided Labero ($3.50) in Race 2 for Donna Van Meer in 2:00.1 and the trotting feature in Race 9 with Buckhead Ridge ($3.00), who dominated in 1:56.4 for owner Brady Doyle. His fourth came with Get Answers in the mares feature.
Landon Campbell enjoyed a training double with Buckhead Ridge and Get Answers, while Jennifer Doyle matched the feat, sending out Shake N Blake ($18.60) in Race 8 (1:55.4) in line to Ken Murphy and the veteran Elm Grove Mistress ($2.50) in Race 10 (1:57.0) for pilot David Dowling.
